867-5309 I got it, I got it

I think it's time to share with you the origination of my blog title. In 1982 this song was released by Tommy Tutone. There isn't much to it but a very catchy tune. It's got a good beat and its easy to dance to.

Did you click on the link? So '80s. The hair is actually a little small for the time but notice the mullets and little curl on the forehead? Also, did they have a Boy George complex? Do I see makeup?

Oh the 1980s were a great time to be a teenager! I think I feel a great movies and music of the '80s post brewing!! (Great may be an overstatement but it was still a very fun time to be a teen!)

The following was taken directly from the ever accurate Wikipedia. Thanks Wiki!

"867-5309/Jenny" is a song written by Alex Call and Jim Keller and performed by Tommy Tutone that was released on the album Tommy Tutone 2, on the Columbia Records label. It peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number one on the Rock Tracks chart in 1982. Co-writer Call came up with both "Jenny" and the telephone number and completed the song with Keller.[1]

Many believed 867-5309 was the real phone number of a girl named Jenny. The song caused a fad of people dialing 867-5309 (which was then a valid phone number in dozens of North American area codes) and asking for "Jenny".[2]

Although Tommy Tutone is primarily remembered for this song and commonly considered a "one-hit wonder," they actually had a Billboard Top 40 hit in 1980 — two years before "Jenny" — with "Angel Say No", which peaked at number 38.[3]

I always loved that song. It definitely gets stuck in the head, and makes you want to shout, "I got it! I got it!"

Much better than the song we sang for my name as a kid. We adapted Emmaline to Emily. "Emma... Emmaline..."

From wikipedia:

The song details the love of the (nameless) singer and a girl called Emmaline from the age of five all through a wedding at seventeen until her suicide at an unspecified later date. Emma it seems wanted to be a "movie queen" but could never find the breaks and eventually kills herself with the line "I just can't keep on living on dreams no more."

Nice. =]

You and I aren't that far apart in age? I loved the 80s and 90s music too. I loved listening to Michael Jackson and his sister Janet. I also like Madonna's music before she went all crazy with burning the cross in her music video. After that, I didn't listen to her music again until maybe 10 years later. And oh, how I was in love with Johnny Depp!

I was a teenager in the 80's too. It makes me feel simultaneously happy, old, and melancholy when I hear 80's music on the oldies stations or the "BOB" or "JACK" stations. Good times...good times...
