Daffodils and Ice Cream

It has been my dream for years to ride my bike through the tulip fields of NW Washington. That dream has never been able to come to pass. Today we thought we would try again. A few things made it impossible for that to happen this time. 1. Fashionista was up coughing all night and unable to go to school. 2. Downpour.

Nevertheless...we headed north to Mt. Vernon, Washington and the tulips.

Well, looks like we arrived about two weeks to early. The daffodils were in beautiful full bloom. Beautiful, bright yellow fields of daffodils.

The rain ceased for a little while and ice cream was plentiful. We still had a great day. Check out the fun we had.

Man, I wish I could have stayed home from school when I was little and then went to eat ice cream and check out daffodils. Lucky gal. I was just talking with Dale about wanting to go check out the flowers, maybe now I'll really be inspired.

I want some!! I want to be there!! We had so much snow last Wednesday, and night, and it was so wet and heavy that everywhere you look, blossoming trees had huge limbs broken off! By Friday afternoon, it was gone! Ours was bent over so I leaned out the bathroom window and knocked it off! Our neighbor's tree behind us was bent over almost to the ground but it was a fairly young tree and they were able to get it upright. It's supposed to get into the 70's next week so that's exciting. But you can count on it -- as soon as the daffodils bloom, it will snow!! That's Orem, Utah!!

I just used the photo of the field of daffodils on the bulletin cover for Church tomorrow with the scripture from the Doctrine and Covenants 117:7 "Therefore, will I not make solitary places to bud and to blossom, and to bring forth in abundance? saith the Lord." Perfect for a field of dirt covered with gorgeous daffodils, right?

Feel free to post the quote from my dad on your sidebar. It sounds like the perfect quote for your weather. By the way we are at 99 degrees right now and very sunny. We should be over 100 tomorrow. I would love to have some rain! :-)
