Those bees just can't live HERE!This is the corner outside my kitchen window just around the corner from the back door. Recently we discovered bees flying in and out of the little openings between the panels of the siding. Last week we got some spray and sprayed the area like crazy. Weeellllllll, we killed all the bees that were outside but the spray couldn't get inside the holes so any of them who weren't outside that evening mourned their loss but continued living under my master bath.
This just won't do. Then we decided to block the holes (thanks for the idea Jen) so last night Cycle Guy did just that. He blocked the holes they were using with some painters caulk and today we continued our watch. You can't see the original holes in this pic. They are off to the left. Those squatters kept finding new cracks to use as entry to their illegal home. One by one we have spent the day caulking and watching. It seems that we may have succeeded but in the process we have made a very large family of bees very angry.
Truth be told, I don't mind bees. They do a lot of good for the world. They make growing things healthier and more beautiful. BUT they can't live in my house. If they would only discuss things rationally I might even help them find a new home out behind the shed or across the street in the blackberry brambles.
I feel a little like a home wrecker. How do you handle creature problems at your house?
While we're on that... We also have a mole making a whole range of mole hills at the back of the yard... by the shed... I wasn't talking to him when I said I would help find a home back there!

STopping by from Sits
Have a wonderful weekend
I have moles and gophers by the boatload at my house. I have a call in to Bill Murray. Happy SWS!
Well I don't want them here
Oh no! I hate bees!!!! Happy 6WS!!!
Stopping by from 6ws...
I make hubby handle all creatures that try to live with us. Except the dogs...
I wish I could help you. Last summer we had a skunk living under our balcony... thank god he moved on his own !!! Happy 6WS.
Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest! I'm not a fan of bees. Well, bees are okay, but I hate hornets and that's usually what's intrusive around here. We spray them too. I don't want anyone getting stung! That hurts.
I wish the bees would just die already!
My rule is - if you don't pay rent, you're fair game for banishment! I remind the cats of this daily when they are misbehaving.
I really think if you drive those bees out, they'll reconvene somewhere that makes you all a lot happier. Now, that mole you may need to have a serious conversation with...
Thanks for playing 6WS!
Like you, I am firm about the bees not living in my house. I am allergic to them. Caulking the holes was a good, non violent solution.
I am more worried about the condition of the house you're living in. You're going to freeze to death come winter with gaps like that in your walls!
Reminds me of a show called Verminators. They had to cut a hole in the ceiling of a house to get a bee hive out of the attic. It was huge! Hope the bees leave and don't hang around to make a hive and honey! Happy SWS, Kathy
OH NOOOOO! That's not a good thing!
While living in AZ, I ended up with a bee infestation - it happened in one afternoon while I was at work! I tried to buy spray, but they don't sell it in AZ anymore because the only bees that are left are 'killer' bees and the stores(?) are afraid of liability issues. So I had to call an exterminator - but not just any kind because none of the regular ones will go near bees anymore - I had to call a bee 'specialist' (I kid you not)! When I told them how long (or short) they had been there, he said he would drop everything and come out right away - apparently one day is like forever with killer bees. He charged a small fortune, but it's a good thing I called because they were drilling their way into the house from the outside and he said they are amazingly powerful and quick - would have made it inside in just a few more hours!
I suspected that everyone was making a big fuss about nothing, but I googled the situation and I guess it really is a big deal! ;)
Oh - and when I came home from work that day, the entire surface of the pool was covered in about an inch of solid bee bodies - I couldn't believe how many there had been!! Yikes!
