Duck Tape Mania (Duct?)

I believe in Duck Tape. I have used it time after time and witnessed it's powers for myself. Braided together it can tow a car. It has been used to repair books and hold a tent together while keeping out the rain. By the time you finish reading this I think you will believe it can hold a family together.Cycle Guy requested that I buy a few colors of Duck tape so that we could have "Duck Tape Mania" for family night. Fashionista and I made our way to Walmart and discovered colored duck tape numbered not a few.Red, Green, Neon Green, Orange, Black, Neon Pink, Blue, Aqua Marine, Yellow, Purple, Blue and Purple Tye Dye, good ole' Grey, Shiny Silver, and Turquoise... I may not have even remembered them all...
How could we possibly limit what we buy? Our goal was to buy six colors (I never thought it would be this hard to choose.) We didn't do too bad when we came home with 8. Neon Green, Black, Turquoise, Navy, Neon Pink, Silver, Purple, and Tye Dye.After dinner Cycle Guy taught us the basic method of layering and creating a checkerboard and we went at it.
By the end of the night we had cell phone covers, book covers, wallets, purses, Ipod covers, and scripture bags.If you overlap carefully, you can make a checkerboard. Tearing it into thinner strips can give you a lovely stripey look. Add some velcro and your coin purse won't lose it's change.Fashionista has a birthday party coming up and guess what the girls will be getting as their goody bag? You got it! Duck tape coinpurses! Now we just need to come up with a few small things to put in them. Happy Birthday 10 year old!Just look how cute the inside of my purse is!
What would you make?

Those are great items you made! Just don't leave anything out in the sun.

For instance, a duct tape car seat cover might not work out too well...

I was surprised how everyone got into it. But then again it was duct tape so I shouldn't have been surprised.

I remember doing that! I couldn't do it myself at all, but I had a friend who could and he made me a Duct tape Wallet! It was way awesome! There looked to be more than just family there! So much fun!

Tanner made our kids wallets when the boys were here, and they still love them. Great end results, I'm so impressed! :)

Okay, I'm a believer. I loved duct tape before I knew it came in colors. What a fabulous discovery!

Two years ago we went to this Apple Butter festival nearby and this guy was selling Duct Tape wallets for $10 a pop (I think)...and they were just plan gray! He had a longer line than the Apple Cider booth next to him!

Wow you guys are talented-love all the goodies. One of my daughters friends made duct tape wallets and sold them at school-all the kids wanted one.

I want to make these. So cool. Did you find patterns or instructions on the web or did you just shoot from the hip?

I'd love to know how you made the scripture bag....I've been trying to figure out how to make a good, solid one...got the colorful duct tape and now ready to do it. Did you have a pattern or did you just figure it out?
