Could it be that with Mike and I in training the food we provide for our family has changed?
I've been trying things like Tuna Steak with steamed vegis, Teriyaki with brown rice and stir fried vegis, and whole wheat spaghetti. High nutrition, lots of color, new flavors.
Our youngest daughter, the princess of all things fashion has come to me several times in the past week or so requesting "comfort food".
Literally.
"Mom," she says in her sweet, I really want something voice, "Can we have comfort food for dinner?" Then she proceeds to name some of her favorites as she sways back and forth hugging her arms around her shoulders.
Over the past week we have eaten:
~Roast Chicken with stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberries and corn
~Homemade Macaroni and Cheese
~Pot Roast with Carrots and Potatoes
~Homemade Chili with cornbread
and
~Grilled Cheese (Well, that may not fit quite into "comfort" but in it's own way...)
Now if only her wish for snow would come true we could have a right cozy winter.

An old Chinese philosopher was asked what was the greatest joy he had found in life: "A child," he replied, "going down the road singing after asking me the way."

Send the princess our way--we've got tons of snow!
Mmmm--comfort food! Remember mom's white gravy with ham cut up in it and served on toast? That to me is comfort food!
Glad you're back!
I'll take a deep fried anything. Thank you very much.
Glad to hear from you! I guess everyone knows my comfort food -- hot chocolate and toast -- 2 pieces of cracked wheat toast placed in the toaster oven for a few minutes - then place a piece of sliced Tillamook cheese on each until it starts to melt - then close the sandwitch (oops!) wich and enjoy! LV says his is cherry pie! With warmed over potatoes and eggs cooked with it a close second! Buddig chip ham gravy and toast was one of those meals you prepare when you have a lot of mouths to feed and grocery money is at a minimum!
But what about you? Do you enjoy the new food you have been eating? I am more like your daughter. I eat it for a couple weeks and then just have to have some mashed potatoes.
Grilled cheese is my comfort food. I crave it when I'm not feeling well. Any my Captain makes the best!
